Money for Nothing

Darin Zanyar was born in Vällingby, a Stockholm suburb, on the 2nd of June 1987, with roots from southern Kurdistan, according to his website. Darin is a Swedish pop singer and songwriter who first became known after being the first runner-up in the Swedish Idol 2004. Darin has after his participation in the TV program become one of Sweden's best selling singers and has also succeeded internationally with hit songs in Germany and Austria.

At the start of 2005 Darin released his first album, The Anthem, after signing a recording contract with SonyBMG. The album sold gold and his first single "Money for Nothing" made it directly to first place in both radio and on the Swedish Singles Chart and sold platinum. He released his other record "Darin" the same year, which also sold platinum and gave him more success than the first. In this album, his number one single "Step Up" was included and "Want Ya" that was the most played video on MTV in Sweden, 2006. The same year, he won one Grammis for best song, one Rockbjörn for best male artist, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award and The Voice '06 price. He also won two NRJ Awards in Finland, one for Best Nordic song.
