A long-awaited planning application has been submitted for a brand spanking new stadium for football team Tottenham Hotspur.
Much to the delight of fans, the stadium will be built on the existing site of White Hart Lane helping maintain the long-term ties that Spurs has to the local community.
It's is the work of architects KSS Design Group LTD who have kept the traditional bowl shape which improves acoustics, easing sore throats for the singing fans. The roof has undulating lines which when mixed with the classic lines of the base creates a distinctive yet attractive look for the stadium that's more robotic than anything.
Internally the 56,000 seat stadium will treat home fans to a 63 row, single-tiered seating plan which will be closer to the pitch maximising views and the experience known to football lovers as a "kop". Visiting fans will have to make do with the traditional style.
The world class stadium however is just part of plans for the White Hart Lane site outside the stadium instead of dead space a master plan design by architectural firm MAKE would see a public square created with two auditoriums designed by Martha Schwarz Partners, a 150 room hotel, supermarket, space for the Tottenham Hotspur foundation as well as 434 new homes.
The plans so far seem to be pleasing not only fans of the team but also local residents who would welcome regeneration plans for the long neglected Haringey area but ultimately whether fans and residents approve or not the decision comes down to the powers that be and there's no doubt there are many crossed fingers up and down the country.
