| The Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) is a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) mission with the aim to land and operate a rover named Curiosity on the surface of Mars.[12][13] The MSL was launched November 26, 2011 at 10:02 EST[2][3] and is planned to land on Mars at Gale Crater between August 6 and August 20, 2012.[6][9][10][11][14] The rover Curiosity, after a more precise landing than attempted previously, will help assess Mars' habitability, i.e. whether Mars is or was an environment able to support life.
